Subject outline

In this subject students will be given the opportunity to gain a fundamental understanding of economic principles and their application to health and health care, particularly in the developing world. The applications of economic analysis to health policy issues are explored. This subject should enable students to: provide an economic perspective to key issues in health and care and in health development programs; and critically appraise health economic evaluation studies. Students also gain an understanding of the principles of health care financing including donor funding arrangements, including the major international, national and local donors.
