2014

Credit points: 15

Subject outline

In this subject you will address the issue of culture and diversity in the practices of counselling and art therapeutic work. Your learning will be directed towards enhancing your ability to work with individuals and groups from diverse cultural backgrounds; with a special emphasis on working with indigneous and refugee communities. Issues of diversity and difference will be more broadly explored in relation to groups within society which are seen to diverge from 'dominant' culture. You will be invited to explore your own values in relation to difference and toleration as the basis for developing 'culturally responsive practice'.
