Subject outline

In this subject students will explore the theoretical foundations of occupational therapy, understanding the underlying relationship between occupation, health and well being. Human occupation will be examined from a life span perspective; childhood, adolescence, adulthood and older adulthood. Students will be introduced to the model of Human Occupation (Kielhofner, 2008) and occupational science concepts including meaning, time use, habits, routines and occupational balance. The students will develop skills in occupational analysis, experiential learning and teaching, critical appraisal of research, team work and client centered and culturally sensitive intentional communication.

Prerequisites Must be enrolled in one of the following courses: HZHSOT, HZHSOB, HZHSOM, HZHSOS, HZHSOW - Bachelor Health Sciences and Master of Occupational Therapy Practice and successfully completed 240 credit points OR HMOTH, HMOTPB - Master of Occupational Therapy Practice OR SZPSOT - Bachelor of Psychological Science/Master of Occupational Therapy Practice and successfully completed 360 credit points.
