Subject outline

This subject introduces the student to the major principles of management with the aim of assisting first-line managers in health services. Students examine theoretical frameworks, concepts and research findings, from the general and nursing management literature, and consider implications for managing a nursing unit. Emphasis is on the effective utilisation of resources (human, material, financial and information) in managing a professional nursing staff who provide quality nursing care in complex health care organisations.
