Subject outline

Students commence a project that takes the equivalent of six months of continuous work under the supervision of a member of staff. The project is completed and written up as a thesis when the student completes the unit NAN5THB. All students are required to present a seminar outlining the proposed project at a time to be determined by the Nanotechnology Course Co-ordinator. A list of prospective thesis topics and supervisors is available from the Nanotechnology Course Co-ordinator.

Subject rules

Prerequisites Enrolment in the Master of Nanotechnology or double degree program (SMNT, SZHSNT or SZHSN) and an invitation to join the honours stream, or approval of Department of Physics postgraduate co-ordinator Students who achieve an average of 65% in all their units in the first year of the course and who demonstrate an aptitude for research and experimentation may be invited to join the honours stream.
