Subject outline

In this subject students will be provided with a comprehensive guide to the practical application of governance principles to sport, leisure and other not for profit organisations operating at the community, state/provincial, and national/professional levels. Students will compare and contrast accepted practice and research evidence in regard to a range of governance principles and practices. Specific topics to be covered include: the difference between governance and management, governance models, governance roles and responsibilities, structures, processes, board leadership, board performance, board culture, managing governance change and future governance challenges.
