Subject outline

In a globalised and highly competitive economy, there is a vital need to secure regular, reliable supplies of raw materials, information and services that are both cost and quality effective. Businesses need to minimise inventories, and maximise the value of production processes through the development of effective supply chain strategies. In this subject students are introduced to topics dealing with inventory control, operational purchasing, strategic sourcing, supply chain tools and techniques, supply chain management and distribution systems. Emphasis is placed upon supply chain management within the context of regional businesses operating within global sourcing both as consumer and supplier.
