Subject outline
This subject provides a theoretical and practical introduction to the elements of effective communication within the modern business environment. Lecture topics include: models of the communication process; the principles of effective communication (written and spoken; formal and informal); the relationship between the structure of and communication within organisations; intercultural communication; e-communication; conflict management and negotiation. The tutorial classes focus on practical exercises relative to the lectures including the development of applied communication skills such as oral presentations and report writing.
