Subject outline
Students will study the nature and the application of the different forms of intellectual property being copyright, patents, trade marks, designs and confidential information. In particular, a study is made of the problems relating to the protection of computer software and the copyright and trademark implications relating to the Internet. Included in the unit will be a consideration of the justification for the protection of intellectual property and of the benefits of commercialising intellectual property rights.
