In this subject, we will provide an introduction to the theory and practice of phonetics (the study of production and perception of the sounds of human languages). Theoretical background and practical analysis will be emphiasised. We will also cover both segmental and prosodic aspects of speech, and special emphasis will be on the analysis of sound patterns within and across languages.
