Subject outline
Over the past fifteen years or so, outsourcing has transformed the corporation and enabled organisations to reduce costs, increase flexibility and access best-in-class practices and global services. In this unit students will examine this trend from both a legal and commercial perspective. Topics include: structuring outsourcing transactions, pricing and performance regimes, pitfalls to avoid, enhancing transformation, governing complex IT relationships and the related transactional format. The trend towards "offshore" outsourcing, its political implications and the global delivery of IT services will also be addressed. The unit concludes with a discussion of the impact of technological change upon the corporation and will examine the question "Does IT Matter?"
