Subject outline
We undertake an exposition of the Australian Constitution through its historical development and present character. We examine the Constitution primarily through its interpretation by the High Court of Australia in decided cases. Topics include federalism, grants , taxation, commerce, freedom of interstate trade, judicial seperation of powers, executive power and the role of the legislature, corporations power and external affairs power. State constitutional law is also covered both as a topic as well as a recurrent theme throughout many topics in the subject.
