Subject outline
This subject focuses on assessment and interpretation of clinical and instrumental data as a means of exploring impairments in communication and swallowing. You will apply knowledge about normal communication and swallowing processes to a clinical setting where impairment is evident. A core component of clinical practice in speech pathology centres on performing accurate, valid and reliable assessments. You will gain theoretical and practical experience in conducting and interpreting speech pathology assessments. You will also develop related clinical assessment skills such as explaining the results of assessments and writing clinical reports for a variety of different audiences. This subject meets requirements for the La Trobe Essentials for the Future Ready program: Global Citizenship, Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Sustainability thinking.
