Subject outline
In this subject, students will review the policy and service framework for aged care in Australia and the impact of current policies and service provision on the quality of life and welfare of older Australians including frail older people. The subject explores the social and political contexts of policies, historical legacies, funding mechanisms and programs that address the needs of older people. Current approaches to the provision of health services for older people, community aged care programs and residential care are examined, in terms of the extent to which these program meet the needs of older people and provide quality care. This subject is only available in distance education mode.
