Subject outline
In this subject, students are provided with an overview of the financial planning industry and an appreciation of the process by which financial planning can be used to better plan, manage and protect the wealth of individuals. Students are introduced to the knowledge, competencies and skills required of a financial planner to prepare, present and monitor a basic financial plan for an individual client. Students will gain an understanding of a range of finance planning topics including investment planning, superannuation, retirement planning, risk management and insurance and estate planning. An understanding of these concepts will be developed within a structured process that will develop skills in analysis and problem solving based on satisfying the financial goals and objectives of a client. The principles of financial planning will be illustrated through practical and real-life situations.
