Students will study the Australian superannuation and retirement industry in order to build upon their knowledge and understanding of the industry and to develop skills in developing optimal strategies for clients in both the accumulation and retirement phase of life. Australia's superannuation industry makes up a very large part of Australia's financial services sector and is a major part of the government's retirement policy. Various aspects of Australia's superannuation and retirement planning industry will be examined including: contributions, taxation, termination payments, self-managed superannuation funds, pensions and annuities and aged pension. The subject will also provide students with a sound understanding of the key aspects of estate planning. The subject addresses issues around managing an estate, intestacy, wills, superannuation death benefits and the use of testamentary trusts.
