Subject outline

In this subject, students investigate different views of integrated curriculum. They examine the idea that integrated curriculum is an educational approach that prepares children for lifelong learning, by looking at education as a process for developing abilities required for life in the twenty first century. Key features of integrated curriculum are investigated. Some of these ideas are interdisciplinary, emphasis on projects, sources that go beyond textbooks, relationships among concepts, 'big ideas' as organising principles, rich tasks, flexible schedules and flexible student groupings. Practical aspects of implementing an integrated curriculum approach are considered.
