Subject outline

In this subject, which incorporates 15 days of teaching practice, students are introduced to the current and historical impact of elements associated with a philosophy of education,and thinking and research on education today. In exploring this theme students will consider such questions as differences between teaching and training, education and indoctrination. In addition students will be introduced to, and expected to further research a range of educational thinkers and philosophers who have made an impact on the schooling currently and historically. The current contexts of education are considered through exploration of curriculum statements and government policies in Victoria and nationally.
