Surveying is the science of taking field measurements on or near the surface of the Earth. Survey measurements include horizontal and vertical angles, horizontal, vertical and slope distances. In particular, surveying as it applies to engineering involves the recording and processing the data necessary for the design and the construction of engineering projects.
