Business information systems are an essential part of most organisational functions today including accounting, marketing, human resource management, and finance. This subject introduces students to different types of information systems and planning and management of effective information systems. The subject focuses on analysis and design of business information systems from a business professional's viewpoint. Analysis and design methods include traditional structured as well as object-oriented approaches. In the process, the subject provides students with skills in data modelling, relational database and systems analysis and design method development. Lecture material is presented in the context of real world organisations and case studies.
