Multi-discipline placement subjects
Practical work placements in a real industry setting are offered right across the University. Multi-discipline subjects are avaialble with preference being given to students who do not have a compulsory WBL subject as part of their course.
University WIL Subjects
The collection known as The University WIL subjects, are a suite of multidisciplinary placement and project subjects, designed to help you build the skills, confidence and networks needed to thrive in your career.
Through the University Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) subjects, you’ll connect academic learning with practical experience.

Subject options
You can choose to undertake either an Industry Placement or an Industry Project as part of your undergraduate degree.
Eligibility:
- have elective space
- completed at least 90 credit points

The Professional Placement Subjects, a suite of 4 subjects, are university-wide electives designed for students to explore longer placements or multiple placement experiences within their degree. They are best suited for students who have more than one elective subject available that they would like to use to complete placement.
These subjects are ideal for students who want to:
- Explore different career options
- Complete 100 - 400 hours of placement experience
- Immerse themselves in one or more professional settings
- Undertake 1-4 elective placements
These subjects are available until the end of 2026. Initial consultation with the Professional Placement Program Coordinator is essential.

Ready to build your career while you study? This 15-credit point elective subject offers 100 hours of placement experience designed to help you develop valuable employability skills in a professional setting.
It’s available to postgraduate students in their final year, across multiple disciplines and all La Trobe campuses.

It’s important that you are available to attend face-to-face events to meet your client, your team members and to undertake important training to prepare you for success in your industry project.
