Subject outline

This subject is one of three final year professional practicum subjects. Dependent on the allocated placement, students will focus on different specialized areas of practice. Supervised clinical practice occurs for 20 days over 4 weeks across one or multiple placement sites. In this emerging level clinical practicum subject, you will consolidate, further develop and refine your clinical skills and patient management strategies. You will be supervised in a relatively independent framework of practice, and you will have the opportunity to travel and undertake non-metropolitan placements so as to assist you to develop well-matched career interests and prospects. You will undertake a four week placement. At the end of the placement, it is expected that you will have achieved clinical competency within a clinical ophthalmology setting corresponding with an entry-level orthoptist.
