Credit points: 15

Subject outline

In this subject students complete internships in the media, journalism and communications and related industries with a specific organisation. Students develop skills in accessing these networked industries from the perspective of an industry-ready future employee and undertake an in-depth experience of work as an emerging professional in the media and related fields. Students develop an understanding of issues internal to the organisation such as its goals, structure, management style and work practices. In addition, they acquire an understanding of the organisation's relationships to clients, audiences and other elements of media and communications professions. Internship opportunities will be advertised through this subject or students can self-source internships, but self-sourced internships must be approved by the subject coordinator before the student starts placement.
