Subject outline

In Engineering practice, professional engineers are often required to undertake research projects from conception to completion. In doing so, the process may require problem recognition and definition, decision-making, conceptual design, analysis and application of mathematical techniques. In this subject students will develop the skills and attitudes necessary to successfully complete an engineering research project, to write a technical report and to effectively communicate outcomes. This subject allows the student to develop skills in engineering research with specific learning outcomes related to contextualized application of research methods and techniques. This subject is project based learning with the targeted outcome being submission of journal publications resulting from a focused research program. Each student will be assigned a supervisor, who will mentor the student through the research process to final project completion.
