Subject outline

Students undertake an engineering project on a topic relevant to their chosen field of specialisation . Typically projects will be undertaken by a small team of three to five students. The project is conducted over a semester and can either be industry based, that is, the project comes from industry but the work is not completed within the company, or university based, that is, a project developed by the Department of Engineering, or partnering organisation. The outcome of the investigation requires a team project report of 18,000 - 24,000 words in length, along with individual student blogs. Students will work to achieve the following Engineers Australia Stage 1 Competencies: 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 3.2, 3.5 and 3.6 (see Engineers Australia Website for details).
