Subject outline

This subject is the continuation of CHI4007 and comprises a two-hour workshop and a one-hour lecture each week in the second semester. Students will be introduced more Chinese texts on Taiwan with topics on education, women status, environment and the relations between China and Taiwan. Students learn more Chinese writing in both traditional and simplified characters with expanded vocabulary range. They also gain an appreciation and understanding of varieties of Chinese culture, tradition and civilization

Intended Learning Outcomes

01. Students will learn more Chinese texts on modern Taiwan with various topics including Taiwan's schools, changes of women's status, environment and pollution and the relations between China and Taiwan to improve their understanding of the social and economic life in Chinese society in Taiwan.
02. Students will enhance their knowledge of Chinese writing of traditional and simplified characters and appreciation of the varieties of Chinese culture, tradition and civilisation.
