Subject outline

Summer at the NGV is a gallery-based subject that explores and develops an understanding of contemporary and modern art directly from the summer exhibitions held at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV). You will investigate and study from the NGV's major summer international exhibition Keith Haring | Jean-Michel Basquiat: Crossing Lines , which offers new and fascinating insights into their unique visual languages and reveals, for the first time, the many intersections between their lives, practices and ideas. While the subject content is embedded within the exhibition, you will explore key conceptual ideas from various positions and learn about art and social history, visual art practice, philosophy and theory and gender studies. The subject is delivered onsite at the NGV (International) and will be taught by NGV curatorial and educational staff and La Trobe University academics from multiple disciplines. THE SUBJECT WILL BE DELIVERED ON THE FOLLOWING DATES: WEEK 1: 15-17 JANUARY 2020 / WEEK 2: 22-24 JANUARY 2020.
