Subject outline
This subject will draw upon the skills and knowledge studied during the course. Students will critique the role of community work in promoting effective practice across diverse settings. This will be applied and contextualized through a key issue confronting Australian society, and across service sectors, that of family violence .Within this area of practice, students will expand their knowledge of social justice, human rights, and ethical decision making. They will review the shifts in perceptions of and responses to a social problem, and explore differing conceptual and operational definitions of family violence over time and apply interpretations from across the sector and legislative jurisdictions. Students will be assisted to consolidate knowledge and skills to develop strategies at both individual and community level. Students will reflect on their emerging professional identity as they embark upon independent practice as future agents of change.
