Subject outline

In this subject, you will be provided with the skills to facilitate adaptive behaviour change process in clients. The subject will address how to motivate clients to change their behaviour ie. motivational interviewing, and adhere to the recommendations of health professionals. As well, students will be introduced to techniques to produce better interactions between yourselves, as future practitioners, and your clients; including skills for dealing with clients who are angry, anxious or highly resistant to change.

Prerequisites Must have passed all subjects in: PHE2CPR and PHE2LCI and PHE2RCM OR must be enrolled in course: HZESPB Bachelor of Exercise Science/Master of Exercise Physiology or HBES, HBESB Bachelor of Exercise Science and must have passed both: PHE1IDH and PHE1SDH. Students enrolled in Bachelor of Exercise Science and Master of Exercise Physiology (HZESPB) or Bachelor of Exercise Science (HBES, HBESB) must have attempted PHE3SEP.
