Subject outline
In this subject students will learn how to apply research to solve real world problems of the sort that they will encounter in their practice as health professionals. Students will develop their confidence in using research by synthesizing evidence in the form of narrative summaries, gaining basic statistical knowledge needed to prepare data reports and critically comparing different research approaches. Students will also take part in a poster conference in the last week of semester. The subject incorporates modules that focus on specific research skills and their practical application. Members of the La Trobe research community will present their work to demonstrate practical applications of research skills relevant to health professionals. The blended course design makes use of collaborative online spaces, feedback mechanisms and quizzes for evaluative and formative tasks.

Special conditions Students will work in groups to produce a poster that will be printed. Costs for group posters range between $10 - $40 (depending on whether it is printed in black and white or colour.
