Subject outline

This subject develops your abilities to conduct comprehensive and systematic health assessments across the lifespan and communicate the findings to others; and develop, plan and provide person-centred care. Through lectures, online activities, workshops, clinical skills laboratories and a clinical placement you will be able to explore appropriate assessment techniques to examine specific physiological, psychological and social aspects of people. The clinical practicum will allow you to undertake assessments of assigned patients and integrate theoretical principles to comprehensive safe nursing practice. To achieve the learning outcomes of this subject you will be expected to complete a range of written, verbal and clinical assessments within a 12-week period.

Prerequisites Students must be admitted to one of the following courses: HBN, HBNM, HBNUP, HBNPRW, RBN - Bachelor of Nursing, HZNM, HNNMD, HZNMDB - Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Midwifery. Students admitted to other course codes require Subject Coordinator's approval to enrol.

Activities:
