DOCUMENTARY AND PRODUCTION
MSS3DOC
2019
Credit points: 15
Subject outline
Students will draw on their previous critical and production subjects to understand, question, contest and produce creative works. Students will build on their theoretical and practical understanding of non-fiction media practices by exploring key debates related to the treatment of human subjects, claims to truth, performance, voice and relations between propaganda, political and personal forms of media. Through a series of lectures, practical exercise, screenings and demonstrations, students explore a range of aesthetic approaches and production techniques relevant to documentary and factual production. Drawing on treatments developed in creative teams, students will work together to produce short documentaries for possible broadcast based on a selection of projects pitched in class.
