In this subject you will apply skills in exercise testing prescription and delivery to client-centered exercise interventions; as well as, enhance skills in exercise service delivery to apparently healthy populations with special considerations including pregnancy, children and adolescents, older adults, lower back pain, overweight and mental illness.

01. Analyse the physiological changes across the lifespan and the effects of exercise, including contraindications, during particular stages of growth and development.

Activities:
Blended content: Description of the stages of growth and development across the lifespan; Description of the structural and physiological changes across the lifespan; Evaluation of the literature on growth and development as related to exercise; Identification of conditions that present during certain stages of growth and development. Practicals: Discussion of contraindicated exercises for particular stages of growth and development.

02. Analyse the purpose, limitations, contraindications or considerations that may require the modification to exercise assessments and exercise programming.

Activities:
Blended content: Evaluation of the literature on how to adapt and modify health and fitness assessments to apparently healthy participants with special conditions that includes, children and adolescents, older adults, pregnant women, overweight, lower back pain and mental health. Practicals: Undertake and modify (where appropriate) health and fitness assessments to apparently healthy participants with special conditions that includes, children and adolescents, older adults, pregnant women, overweight, lower back pain and mental health. Practicum: Health screening and fitness assessments for a range of participants.

03. Adapt the delivery of exercise programs after individual evaluation of needs, capacity and stage of the lifespan.

Activities:
Blended content: Evidence based exercise programs for apparently healthy participants and participants with special conditions to include, children and adolescents, older adults, pregnant women, overweight, lower back pain and mental health. Practicals: Prescription and modification of exercise programs for apparent healthy individuals and participants with special considerations to include, children and adolescents, older adults, pregnant women, overweight and lower back pain. Practicum: Prescription of client-centered exercise programs for individuals and groups to include appropriate endurance, resistance and flexibility training programs.
