Subject outline

This subject enables students to develop knowledge and skills which support future study in general university programs including Nursing, Allied Health, Education and Science degrees. It introduces students to a comprehension of the different disciplines which have traditionally been categorised as science. Students learn to think of science as a process rather than an outcome and to understand the elements and steps which constitute the scientific method. Students develop a hypothesis and undertake experimental design. Assessment is comprised of a digital journal which records the experiment from initial observations through to reporting on findings.
