Subject outline

This subject introduces students to academic culture and different forms of academic communication. Students examine the conventions of academic culture and identify strategies to support learning success. They compare the purposes of different genres of academic communication in the context of discipline differences and are introduced to the concept of academic integrity. Students develop transferable skills in time-management, note-taking, academic writing, critical reading, case study analysis and online learning. Assessments are low stakes and include text summary and written comprehension as well as text analysis.
