Subject outline

In this subject, students will develop an understanding of nutrition requirements and physiological changes across the lifespan: pre-conception, pregnancy and foetal development, lactation, infancy, childhood, adolescence, adulthood and ageing. Students will also learn about food and nutrition dietary patterns across the different life stages. Students will be able to combine prior nutritional and biosciences knowledge and skills with the new material to gain a more indepth understanding of human nutritional needs, requirements, and habits/practices/behaviours.

Prerequisites Must be admitted in one of the following courses: HMDP, HBHNHK; OR Must be admitted in one of the following courses: HZHSDP, HZNDP and must pass 240 credit points; OR must be admitted in HBHN and must pass DTN2PNU and (DTN3NDS or HBS2HPB); all other students require subject coordinator approval.
