The human resource (HR) is consideredto be one of the most important organizational assets. The ability to attract,develop, and retain a capable workforce is crucial for organisations in orderto achieve their strategic goals. The subject covers the key HR functions thathelp organisations in attracting, developing and maintaining employees. Job analysis, recruitment and personnelselection, performance appraisal and management, and training and developmentare investigated and analysed. In addition, the subject emphasises theimportance of understanding both the present and emerging external context,with particular attention to, economic recession, legal requirements, andglobalisation. To this end, you will be encouraged to critically analyse HRpractices within a broader global context.
