Subject outline

Building on the knowledge and practical skills gained in Clinical Audiology A, this subject provides you with an opportunity to consolidate your skills in audiological assessment of adults. Through a combination of off-campus clinical placements and focused workshops, you will develop independence, professionalism and communication skills. You will be provided with an expanded range of casework, including hearing aid assessments and objective techniques. The learnings in this subject will be assessed by examination, portfolio, a written report and assessment at clinical placement.

Graduate capabilities & intended learning outcomes

01. Competently perform pure tone audiometry, immittance audiometry, speech audiometry and otoacoustic emission testing on adult patients with complex hearing losses.

02. Evaluate and select appropriate clinical tests required to conduct complex audiological evaluations. Integrate information from the basic test battery and interpret results to determine the nature and level of hearing impairment.

Eight 1.0 days placement - off site per study period on weekdays during the day from week 29 to week 48 and delivered via face-to-face.
"Students complete 250 hours of placement across the duration of their enrolment. In this subject students may complete up to 8 placement days."
