Subject outline

In this subject we study art and travel in Europe from 1700 to the present. By its very nature, the material is interdisciplinary, drawing on the disciplines of literature (travel-writing) and geography as well as art history and history, and the lectures and seminars will also discuss the wider issues raised by tourism. It will introduce students to concepts of place-based research, reception theory, and sites, routes and museums of significance in Europe.
