Subject outline
This subject is designed for students with little or no previous knowledge or practical experience in Turf Management. This subject provides foundation knowledge and a practical introduction to a range of turf cultural tasks such as irrigating, mowing, renovating, fertilizing and pesticide application required in turf management. Pesticide application, including legislation, safety, modes of action and effective application techniques will also be discussed. Students will undertake training in the identification and indications for use of the major turf grasses and the identification and control of common weeds, pests and diseases. The skills and knowledge gained in this subject will provide underpinning knowledge to allow progression to later year subjects in Sports Turf.
