Subject outline
ABS3EAV is a popular residential one week intensive block on-site in Shepparton and Barmah. Students are required to attend a compulsory introductory day which will be video conferenced to all campuses. This subject will introduce students to a wide range of Aboriginal topics that relate to Shepparton and surrounding areas. Delivery will be blended with online and face to face lectures and assessments. ABS3EAV will cover discipline subject areas relating to history, archaeology, sociology, anthropology and politics. Through oral history, narrative and community engagement students will gain an understanding of historical and contemporary Aboriginal society and culture. In addition, students will have a On Country experience, which involves travel to the Barmah Forest to meet and hear from representatives of the local Aboriginal community. This field trip incurs additional costs to students. Anybody intending to enrol MUST check details of the field trip dates and costs with the subject coordinator.
