INTRODUCTION TO PHOTOJOURNALISM

VPA1PJ1

2018

Credit points: 15

Subject outline

Photojournalism 1 introduces the student to photography as a means of documenting facts and telling stories. This subject combines the practical instruction in the use of DSLR cameras, with digital software such as Lightroom or Photoshop and the conceptual and aesthetic aspects of the genre. The practice of photojournalism is explored with exclusive recorded interviews with world-class photojournalists. These different views of the contemporary industry of photojournalism bring into focus how your creative, reflective practice is contextualised in the contemporary field. Practical assignments enhance your ability to understand and creatively use photographic image-making as a means of expression of ideas and transfer of knowledge.
