Subject outline

In this subject, topics are organised into three groupings. In Population Health, content includes basic epidemiological concepts, Australian health patterns and trends, and diet and nutrition as risk factors for disease. In Health, Nutrition and Society, content includes sociological analyses of changing definitions of health and illness, nutrition-related inequalities in health, political and ethical issues in public health nutrition, socio-cultural understandings of food and eating, and environmental influences on nutrition. In Behaviour and Nutrition, content includes biological regulation of dietary intake, psycho-social factors that influence eating behaviours, physical activity, biopsychosocial aspects of obesity and eating disorders, and nutrition-related public health promotion.
