Subject outline
In this subject students develop oral health instruction skills and learn how to incorporate motivational interviewing into patient management. Students will develop new skills in non-surgical periodontal instrumentation and adhesive restorations in deciduous and permanent teeth. Students will also develop initial information gathering skills, clinical observation techniques and treatment planning skills and apply them in a clinical setting. Other skills include inquiring on and documenting pain history, differential diagnosis, pulp pathology and radiographic practical skills and assessment. Theories of minimal intervention and clinical prevention of dental diseases will be linked to clinical procedures.Students are introduced to intra-oral local anaesthesia (theory and practice)and will learn to develop new clinical skills in the areas of pulptherapy,preformed metal crowns, deciduous exodontia and orthodontics.

05. Administer intra oral local anaesthesia.
