Subject outline
In this subject students develop the knowledge and skills required to undertake an extended journey in a remote natural environment and consolidate their outdoor education journey skills, environmental knowledge, and introductory outdoor leadership skills. Theory and practical work encourages the development of safe practice, reasonable judgment, understanding of self, care for others and the environment, sound preparation, and the ability to learn from experience.

Demonstrate safety, knowledge and skills specific to a remote natural environment, through a focus on navigation, fauna and flora interpretation, leadership and group management, minimal impact practices, health and hygiene, first aid in remote settings, communications and weather interpretation.

Tutorial
Eight 1.0 hours tutorial other recurrence on weekdays during the day and delivered via face-to-face.
Field Trip
One 18.0 days field trip per study period on any day including weekend during the day and delivered via face-to-face.
