Subject outline

Language and gender examines different theoretical approaches of linguistics regarding gender and then applies and critiques these in context. The subject includes an examination of the relationship between language and sexualities. The focus is on both language use and language about gender and sexualities. While the majority of existing literature focusses on English and countries such as the US and UK, we explore the application of current ideas beyond these societies.
