Subject outline

Summer at the NGV is a gallery-based subject that explores and develops an understanding of contemporary art directly from the summer exhibitions held at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV). Students will investigate and study from the NGV#s major summer international exhibition NGV Triennial, which surveys the world's best art and design, across cultures, scales, geographies and perspectives.While the subject content is embedded within the exhibition, students will explore key conceptual ideas from various positions including art and social history, visual art practice, philosophy and theory and technology studies. The subject will be delivered at the NGV (International) and will be taught by NGV curatorial and educational staff and La Trobe University academics from multiple disciplines.
