Subject outline

Improving student success, satisfaction and retention requires strong academic leadership. This subject focuses on leading teaching and learning through quality assurance and enhancement informed by internal and external data and learning analytics. Participants will gain an understanding of how Australian higher education institutions are ranked based on outcomes of external student experience surveys. Participants will gain practical experience planning a strategy that utilises institutional data, learning analytics and external data to enhance the quality of teaching in a subject or unit of study. Participants have the opportunity to show leadership in providing consistent, fair, high quality feedback to students on assessment tasks by designing a research-informed strategy for moderation of assessment in a subject or unit of study. Participants will review the field of academic leadership and identify opportunities for their own career development through scholarship and research.
