Graduate capabilities & intended learning outcomes

01. Describe the key features of the hardware and software that enables small multimedia applications.

Activities:
Lectures to present and disucss the material, laboratory classes and assignment to illustrate the features.

02. Justify the selection of appropriate data representation, file type and data storage requirements for a small multimedia application.

Activities:
Lectures to present and discuss the material, laboratory classes and assignments to apply and justify the selection principles. Feedback on appropriateness of selections given as the components of the assignment are assessed progressively through the semester in laboratory classes.

03. Apply multimedia design considerations to ensure the development of small multimedia applications that are accessible to, and usable by, all members of society.

Activities:
Lectures to present and discuss the material, labortory classes and assignment to demonstrate the knowledge. Students use multimedia design knowledge for their assignment and within laboratory tasks. Feedback on knowledge given as the problems associated with the components of the assignment are solved by students and assessed progressively throgh the semester in laboratory classes.

04. Identify and discuss the implications of the legal and ethical issues associated with small multimedia applications.

Activities:
Lectures to present and discuss the material, labortory classes and assignment to practise identifying and resolving the issues. Feedback given in response to short essay on the issues that is a component of the assignment.

05. Develop small multimedia applications that involve digital movies, images, text, sound and animations, and that meet a user's requirements, and address pertinent ethical and legal issues.

Activities:
Material presented in lectures and demonstrations during laboratory classes. Students practise the application development skills in laboratory classes and the assignment. Feedback on discipline specific skills and FGCs given as the components of the assignment are assessed progressively through the semester in laboratory classes.

06. Develop and apply the self-learning skills necessary to become proficient in the software applications used to develop multimedia applications.

Activities:
Inquiry skills to students in hands-on activitiesw in laboratory classes. The development of self-learning capabilities will be assessed as part of the ongoing assignment assessment.
