Subject outline

This subject introduces rider biomechanics, basic riding skills and safety during horse handling when other people and horses are involved. Key topics include the principles underpinning correct riding, selection of suitable grooming equipment, selection and fitting of tack and selection and fitting of personal protective equipment. Application of the principles of horse welfare through warm-up and cool-down is undertaken during practical riding exercises.
